“In the year of our Lord 1661, Pierre “Dom” Pérignon fled the problems of Hautvillers Abbey in the Marne and its vineyards, whose wine he was unable to tame. Accompanied by his young apprentice Thierry Ruinart, he decides to go on pilgrimage to the Abbey of St Hilaire in the south of France.”
This short film takes an offbeat and humorous look at how Champagne came to be, just like Blanquette de Limoux, the oldest sparkling wine in the world. Although based on real people, places and events, this entertaining fiction does not in any way reflect the real character of the protagonists, nor the exact truth of the facts recounted.
Produced by the association Chocolatine Production and directed by Stéphane Garrigues, accompanied by the technical team including Stéphanie Garrigues, Bastien Fouré, Hugo Bachère and Enzo Fouré-Pfeiffer. Veteran actors Frédéric Ambrosini and Jean-Pierre Audouy star young Julian Bertrand, making his first screen appearance.
